Bob Parsons Business Rule #1...
Godaddy founder Bob Parsons has put together a snazzy little video blog recently, to top off all his controversial business advertising strategies, during the credits, he shares Rule #1 of his business rule book; "Get and stay out of your comfort zone.... Don't be concerned with security" to which he sums up "Security is for Cadavers".
Maybe the context is different, but business principal and philosophy, like many of Bob's beloved pun's, usuall cross over into other areas.
For Example;
Bob and Godaddy are notoriously cheap and proudly use anthing they they can to sell more, undercutting the competition with drop dead prices and call girl allure.
Under the hood, to provide service to his cheap customers who continually demand more lip service for less. Godaddy's Domain Name System architechture (DNS, the internet 'phone book' service than brings your computer the numbered addresses to 'call' for any given website request) is ailing considerably. My direct experience with managing Bob's "Total DNS Contol", should you choose to use it, is buggy at best and these servers are continually becoming out of sync with with the records defined in the control interface. Labeled in DNS as "NSXX.DOMAINCONTROL.COM", Bob's security philosophy for these discount services is definetly lacking.
Some of you who have registered a domain name before may know that you don't actually 'own' the domain name, you simply lease the higher level internet resources in order to 'address' your website to the correct serving network or web host. These registrations are managed by your registrar (in this case, GoDaddy).
So please, if you or any respectible company that you know of uses godaddy for domain name services, watch this video so you can completely understand to whom you have undercut US market share to send on an endless "Cha-Ching" vacation.
Then, the next time you see a Godaddy commerical, remember the thought of Bob being chased around the tennis court, by a bimbo young enough to be his daughter, on your domain name dime. And wonder to yourself just which cadaver he left in charge of the security of DNS records that have you website, email and overall internet presence, pardon the pun; "By the Balls".
And yes, I currently have hosting with GoDaddy, which I am not proud of, I have more domain names than I use, since it was too easy to buy more than I needed on cost alone. The result is an uncertain platform for the 1 or 2 domain names that I do use, while paying roughly what I would for 5 as I would for the 1 or 2 I actually use with another provider.

Distributed; The New Centralized
Localize not Legalize.
If you let the laywers and politicians run everything, soon there won't be anything left but an endless Groundhog day. Which is about how my entire February has went and gone - all over consumer spending being down.
It's a shame when retirements are directly linked to handbag, pizza, beer, and whatever else sales. All conveniently swiped into toxic lending and the bank of interest & fee heaven.
And it's all good with the analog to digital conversion - TV is for zombies - hitting the clicker and listening for the beep-o-wave while the feed lines come in.
Did I say feed lines? ~shudder~ it's cold, i'm going to bed now. Maybe we can have another bright sunny Nor easterly chilled day tomorrow!

My post from '07 regarding Bluelane in-visor "hot-patching" was a neat idea and like other neat ideas only seek to be bought up into other big business...

"...Many sons and Many Guns"
After watching this, it becomes clearer why we make the investment in strong, smart future generations of this country that we do. If you are not pro-life, your people may become powerless and subject to extinction by those who are.
